Day One

Cape Town
Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be met by a representative and transferred to the Silo Hotel.

To say the Silo Hotel is a luxurious Cape Town hotel would be an understatement. The Silo Hotel is something much more than just luxurious, it is an exquisite space that towers over the V&A Waterfront and feasts your eyes with views of the ocean, Table Mountain and the city. The Silo has been built in the grain elevator portion of the historic silo complex and was built without disturbing the cultural significance of this building and making it an icon in the city skyline. It is above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa which rivals the likes of the Tate Modern in London and MoMA in New York.  At the hotel, you can relax at the spa, have afternoon tea while gazing at Table Mountain, sip champagne on the roof and swim in the glass pool or enjoy a private tour of the museum.

Day Two

Cape Town
You may choose to spend today exploring the Zeitz MOCAA, unguided and with your entry fee included in the package.

The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa is the largest museum on the African continent. It is dedicated to researching, collecting and exhibiting unique African art and it houses an impressive collection form all over the continent and beyond. The museum itself is housed in an important historical landmark, the old grain silo at the V&A Waterfront and the innovative design work is astounding. Apart from the creative genius you will see in the array of artwork, the Zeitz MOCAA also has a bookshop, a restaurant, reading rooms as well as a rooftop sculpture garden. The exhibition space covers six thousand square meters over nine floors, with one hundred gallery spaces.

Day Three

Cape Town
After breakfast, you will spend a half day on your guided Cape Town Art Safari.

This half day tour takes you into the studios of fine artists in Cape Town for a totally fresh and contemporary look at the local art world. You start with a visit to a gallery, possibly the Stevenson, one of the top galleries in the city, possibly the Association for the Visual Arts, it all depends on what is showing. You will meet a local graffiti artist and be hosted on a street art tour in Woodstock and Salt River, one of the country’s street art capitals, delving deep into the works. You will finish with a visit to an artist in their studio, for insight into their work, and into the art scene as a whole. Sometimes if there are no suitable exhibitions, two artists are featured in studio and the gallery will be skipped.

Please note: These tours are available on certain days only.

Day Four

Cape Town – Johannesburg

After breakfast, you will be transferred from the Silo Hotel to Cape Town International Airport for your flight to OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg (flight for your own account). You will be met on arrival by a representative and transferred to the Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa.

The Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa is set within extensive and beautiful gardens and is famed for hosting Nelson Mandela while he wrote his autobiography, “a Long Walk to Freedom”. The hotel showcases a spectacular art collection including original sketches titled “Foresight and Hindsight-the Five Faces of Mandela”. The entire hotel is one of style and the facilities are world class including the culinary genius of its in-house restaurant that forms part of the international association of gastronomy, Chaîne des Rộtisseurs. The hotel has an indulgent spa that uses the newest in wellness including sound therapy and the lush gardens the hotel is set, sets the scene for a complete and utter wind down in luxury.

Day Five

After breakfast, you will spend a half day on your guided Johannesburg Art Safari.

The Johannesburg Art Safari is a four-hour exploration of art as it is found in galleries, public spaces and artists’ studios across Johannesburg. On this private tour, you will be introduced to galleries such as the Wits Art Museum and Johannesburg Art Gallery, some of them private such as Gallery Momo, Stevenson and Goodman. Public art is important, moving the gallery on the street and engaging collective consciousness in public expression, a specialist is brought in for this component. As a final element, you will visit an artist in their studio.

Please note: These tours are available on certain days only.

Day Six

After breakfast, you will be transferred to OR Tambo International Airport and continue with your onward travel arrangements.
