Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be met by a representative, who will assist you with your travel documents as well as collecting your car hire. You will then make your way to the Southern Sun Waterfront Cape Town.
Southern Sun Waterfront Hotel is found at the entrance to the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town’s premier shopping destination. The hotel’s design is one of inspiring elegance and grace as it stands in all of its glory in the Mother City. The hotel provides an ideal base for exploration into some of the city’s most well-known attractions. For days spent at the hotel, there is an impressive range of facilities that include a restaurant, a bar, a gym and an azure swimming pool. The swimming pool area is a popular spot because of its seclusion and tranquility.
Your day will consist of a trip to the Two Ocean’s Aquarium and you will have the opportunity to explore the Cape Peninsula (own account, no entrance fees included).
A popular tourist destination for all ages, the Two Oceans Aquarium is home to more than 3 000 marine animals including penguins, turtles, fish and sharks. Entrance to the Aquarium allows access to view approximately 300 species of fish, mammals, reptiles, invertebrates, birds and plants in a professionally-designed, child-friendly environment. You will experience six galleries showcasing ocean life in the Indian and Atlantic oceans, a children’s play centre, a river meander, kelp forest and predator tanks.
You will then explore Cape Town’s stunning peninsula moving through the vibrant coastal suburb of Sea Point with its famous promenade and onto the upmarket, pristine beaches of Clifton and Camp’s Bay. The scenic road winds its way to Hout Bay where a boat trip to Duiker Island, home to thousands of seals, is possible before heading onto the famous Cape Point Nature Reserve at the very tip of the peninsula. The road twists its way to penguin colony that has made Simon’s Town home, and then through the eclectic fishing village of Kalk Bay and surfer heaven Muizenberg before stopping at Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens.
You will have the day at leisure where you can explore the plethora of Cape Town family activities from shopping and markets to outdoor fun.
Day Four to Day Six
Travel along the celebrated Garden Route until you reach Botlierskop Game Reserve where you will spend three nights at the Village Lodge.
This is a remote country escape that features magnificent mountainous views and is completely child-friendly. The Village Lodge is a collection of new and vintage houses some dating back as far as the 1800’s. Each of the houses is individual in style and have been restored to include modern, luxury elements. There is an expansive herb and vegetable garden which serves the Bellevue Restaurant, promising fresh and delicious cuisine. A leisure area features a swimming pool for the adults as well as a pool with water slides and a fountain pool for the kids. Expansive play areas give them the space to enjoy the outdoors. You can also make use of the Botlierskop Spa as well as go on guided bush trails or enjoy a thrilling horseback safari.
Day Seven & Day Eight
Continue to Hog Hollow Country Lodge, a short distance from Plettenberg Bay, where you will spend the next two nights.
Hog Hollow Country Lodge provides family-friendly accommodation in a stunning natural setting with plenty of outdoor activities to appeal to all ages and inclinations. You might find it difficult to leave the hotel and surrounding lush gardens with three spacious lounge areas, a swimming pool and expansive verandas. Breakfasts are served at a communal dining room table and at night, delectable meals are enjoyed indoors or outdoors in the fire-lit boma.
Plettenberg Bay is a short distance away and has a number of child friendly activities including horse-riding, segway tours, fascinating conservation-focused animal sanctuaries, farms stalls, river cruises, stand up paddle boarding and much more.
After breakfast, you will drive to Port Elizabeth and drop off your car hire before continuing with your onward travel arrangements.
