Maun Facts & Info
Maun was founded in 1915 as a tribal capital for the Batawana People, it quickly developed a reputation as a “Wild West” town that fed the local cattle ranching and hunting operations. With the growth of the tourism industry in the 1990’s and Maun’s proximity to some of Botswana’s best national parks the town began to boom.
Air Botswana connects Maun International Airport with Cape Town, Gaborone, Johannesburg, Kasane, Victoria Falls and Windhoek and is serviced by Air Botswana, Air Nambia and Airlink. Located just 5km’s from the centre of Town and transfers into town are easily arranged.
The temperature in this region ranges from around 25° Celsius in the winter to above 35° Celsius in the summer. Both seasons have different attractions for game viewing. In the winter it can be easier to spot game as animals congregate around water holes.
